Atal Pension Yojana PRAN
The Government of India has announced a new pension plan called Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
Under the yojana, guaranteed minimum pension of INR 1000/- or 2000/- or 3000/- or 4000 or 5000/- per month will be given at the age of 60 years depending on the contributions by the subscribers.
The tax benefits include the additional deduction of up-to INR 50,000 under section 80CCD(1).
You can subscribe to this scheme on a monthly or quarterly or half-yearly basis. However, you have a choice for exiting from the APY scheme at any time. The auto debit of subscription amount option is also available.
On successful registration into the scheme, a Permanent Retirement Account Number (APY PRAN Number) will be allotted to the subscriber. Here are key things to know about PRAN Number.
- Every subscriber is allotted a unique 12 digit PRAN for a lifetime which is accessible from any location in India.
- As per PFRDA guidelines, an individual cannot have NPS and APY under the same PRAN. However, one can enrol in both NPS and APY separately at a given point of time.
- Subscriber can download his / her APY statement based on this unique number, PRAN, that identifies his/her account.
- APY PRAN is sent through an SMS to the mobile number given by subscriber at the time of registration.
If subscribers want to check contributions online, there are 2 ways: by visiting the NPS website or by downloading the APY/NPS Lite app from the Play Store.

How to Check APY PRAN Number Online?

Follow the steps given below for checking APY PRAN number and statement online
- NSDL
Visit the NSDL site [https://www.npscra.nsdl.co.in/scheme-details.php].
Click on APY e-PRAN/Transaction Statement View. - With PRAN
If you have chosen the ‘With PRAN’ option, you will be required to enter your PRAN and bank account number.
- Without PRAN
In case you don’t have PRAN, you will have to enter – subscriber’s name, bank account number, and date of birth.
- Submit
You can choose the APY e-PRAN View or Statement of Transaction View. Then enter the captcha code and click on submit.
- PRAN View
APY e-PRAN will give you details of your APY e-card along with information such as pension start date, pension amount you have opted for, APY service provider etc.
- APY Statement view
If you select “APY/Swavalamban Statement view” then you will get your APY transaction details.
